ESRM 458- Management of Endangered, Threatened, and Sensitive Species
This was a very interesting class focused around the political and social challenges of endangered species management. We examined the specifications of the Endangered Species Act, the human dimensions of conservation, and the agencies involved in enforcing conservation legislation. Lecture material was interesting but the lectures themselves were a bit dry, and I always found myself falling behind on the assigned readings. The main homework for this class was a quarter-long group project where we created a product centered around an endangered species for a real-world client. Our client was the WA Department of Natural Resources and we produced a literature review/critique for them about the marbled murrelet. The group project was a bit stressful, as one would expect, but all in all it was a very educational experience and a worthwhile class.
