Honors 222 A- Disaster Science: Exploring Marine Oil Spills and the Environment
Course Description: "The course will provide an understanding of the science and practices necessary for evaluating environmental threats and in particular mitigating the ecological and human impacts of marine oil spills."
This class was very interesting and covered a wide range of material. Discussing the history of past major oil spills was incredibly intriguing to me, however I found the policy side of the class supremely dull. Perhaps it was just the effects of spring quarter and the allure of beautiful weather, but this class was much less exciting than I hoped it would be.

My final paper for the class, written on the risks of offshore oil drilling in the Arctic, is posted below. While an intriguing subject to study, finding the motivation to put this paper together was tricky and I'm not very satisfied with the outcome.
